Description
A female belted kingfisher sits atop a naked tree to scan the water below for fish at Petrie Island in Ottawa.
But she wasn't alone -- another kingfisher was in the area and a turf war was afoot! Kingfishers are known to be territorial and the two would whip past each other and try to chase the other away.
The fish must have been aplenty because neither were willing to budge from the area. Instead, it was a loud and not-so-peaceful day on shore for anyone looking for some peace and quiet.
